Doing Something
Here on the east Coast in New Jersey the significance of the storm can’t be understated. But such widespread destruction has a numbing effect. As someone with friends and family left adversely affected and even homeless by the storm I have decided to do something personal about it.
I will be undertaking a run through New Jersey the week before Thanksgiving to raise awareness to the relief efforts that will surely be ongoing.
This run will go from the highest point in the state, at the top of the state – Highpoint State Park, down to the bottom of the state – Cape May at the Oceanside. It will cover 220 miles and over half of that will be near the coastline communities affected. It will be done in one continuous push over 5 days, resting only to recover and continue.
My goal will be to:
- Raise awareness to the ongoing relief efforts
- Generate contributions to organizations helping with those efforts
- Give thanks for what we still have – each other
